Why does it have to cost?!?! I mean if we really need it and want it. Shouldn’t we as a species all chip in to work togethee for a common purpose. I mean sure i understand why it cost to go to a restaurant but if we are in urgent need of terraforming mars, then why does it have to cost anything? I bet we are going to realize this when its too late. But then were going to have greedy people wanting to get paid for their time. I mean you’re not gonna have any more time if you don’t help us ”karen”!

Mars lost it's atmosphere because it lost it's magnetic field. Unless we find a way to generate an artificial magnetic field all the talk about regenerating an atmosphere is for naught because the solar wind will blow it away as fast as it is generated. There is some talk that cell phone towers might be able to generate a sort of magnetic shield.

Why do we want to Colonize Mars? Because we are screwing up Earth and at some point when we can no longer Breathe the Air on Earth we will have to Bailouts, and start the process all over again on Mars ( Screwing up Mars) but maybe that Red Dust or Sand on Mars might just be Spice, you know like in Dunes ( The Science Fiction Book, can't remember the author name for the moment ) maybe Humans can lived off the Red Dust and as time goes by living off Mars Spice the Human Body will go through changes ( Metamorphosis ) and Inter planet traveling will very common because the Human Body by then will be adjusted to Space Environment due to the supplement from Spice from Mars. Like in the Book Human Being becomes Super Humans, you may end having the head of an Alligator and from your neck down is Human, so my dear Explorers Mars is awaiting you with Good Spice and also the worms are under the sand well hidden. ☮️ to all.

so we're all might be just Martians after all some people actually go a bit far by suggesting that Mars has evolved its own intelligent species at some point back in the day and when they were at the brink of extinction due to extreme climate change they found a way to eject some simple life organisms from Mars to Earth which started the evolutionary process of life on earth, and by that, Mars was the home planet of 1st life appearance in our solar system I wouldn't actually be so surprised if this proven right someday

It is simple: first is necessary to restore the shield against sun radiation (Van Allen belt). Due to its disappearance, the atmosphere and most of the water evaporated. It's simple too - you need to raise the temperature of the planet's contents so that the rock is liquefied again and then accelerate the rotation of the planet's iron core. One collision of a Moon size asteroid with Mars should be enough, right? How can people not remember such recent things from their past?

@32:37 "pine trees can spread their seeds by the wind." Unfortunately there isn't much wind on Mars because the atmosphere is only 1% as thick as that which we find on Earth. Although the speed of the wind can reach 62 mph, the low density of the air means that a feather dropping on Mars would drop nearly straight down even in a high wind. There just isn't enough pressure in a light atmosphere to move anything. Even a feather would drop like a brick, even in a wind.
TheAbc45678
TheAbc45678 Місяць tagasi
@12:38 said "during Mars' summer months." That's non-sensical, because on Earth summer months depend upon which HEMISPHERE we are talking about, and there was no mention here if we're talking about the north or south hemisphere. Both poles on Mars have ice caps. During the summer in the northern hemisphere, the southern ice cap is larger, but during the summer in the southern hemisphere, the northern ice cap is larger.
TheAbc45678
TheAbc45678 Місяць tagasi
@4:29 "Mars is little more than half the size of Earth" but @10:57 "Mars is only one tenth the mass of Earth". I know the difference between mass and radius and surface area, but the word "size" can mean radius OR surface area OR volume OR mass. For example, when astronomers talk about the size of a black hole they are always talking about its mass, and when geographers talk about the size of lakes they are talking about their surface areas. In terms of mass Earth is 9.3 times larger so you should have said "Mars is only one ninth the mass of Earth." Here are the ratios of Mars to Earth in each of these metrics: Mass: 9.3, Volume: 6.6, Surface: 3.5, Radius: 1.8. So if your phrase "Mars is little more than half the size of Earth" was referring to radius, then you were WRONG because it's LESS than half the size of the Earth, not MORE as you stated. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Size "Size in general is the magnitude or dimensions of a thing. More specifically, geometrical size (or spatial size) can refer to linear dimensions (length, width, height, diameter, perimeter), area, or volume. Size can also be measured in terms of mass."

Such kind of scenario could ever be possible only as science fiction. But even if we could one day terraform Mars this process will take billions of years in the best case. We danger creating the impression to uneducated people that the terraforming of Mars could happen in a couple of decades and that we will travel on weekends with our private spacecraft to Mars for sunbathing. We sending the wrong message by saying that Mars could be transformed into a liquid place in just a hundred years. With existed technology, humans are not able to control the microclimate even to a greenhouse 50X50
